Judy Blume is an American writer. She writes children’s, young adult, and adult fiction. Her books include Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret., Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Deenie, Blubber, and Tiger Eyes. Her young adult books addressed masturbation, menstruation, teen sex, birth control, and death, at a time when that was uncommon. She has been recognized as a Library of Congress Living Legend.

She is the daughter of Esther and Rudolph/Ralph Sussman, a dentist. She is married to law professor and non-fiction writer George Cooper. She has two children with her former husband, lawyer John M. Blume.

Judy’s paternal grandfather was Bertzik/Bernard Sussman (the son of Idel Zussman/Sussman and Rachel). Bertzik was born in Dli, Lithuania. Idel was the son of Dov Ber Zisman and Channa Rivka. Rachel was born in Aboilnik, the daughter of Itza.
