The Announcement

As soon as he finished his song, Mars announced that he would be donating a total of $1 Million to his “brothers and sisters in Flint, Michigan”. He said,

“This is why we love what we do. We get a chance to go up on stage every night and perform … and the fact that we can show up here and celebrate under one roof together, all this positive energy that’s flowing. This is the world we want to live in.”

Flint Water Crisis

Flint Water Crisis is a worrisome problem affecting people living in the area. After switching from Detroit Water Plant to Flint River, people were forced to consume untreated water. The tainted water supply has been linked to an increase in Legionnaires’ disease and other serious health issues in the area.

It’s not really the donation but the awareness of the problem and willingness to solve it (because he can), that needs to be appreciated. Many people amass wealth but only some show the courage to share it for the betterment of others.
